Entasis
"Her not yet concluded series Entasis has been shot in Greece and depicts on the one hand dormant volcanoes and on the other traces of rioting in Athens in connection with the financial crisis. Ærsøe compares the bubble that bursts when the volcano awakens to what happens when a population has had enough. The series deals overtly with themes such as surveillance the economy and political collapse; but does so too a great extent through conceptual comparisons - thematically for example between the ways in which one monitors volcanoes and people, or formally between crushed volcanic rock and windows smashed between crushed volcanic rock and windows smashed by thrown stones. These photographs of shattered objects involve many different catastrophic moments that shatter the otherwise calm aura if the photographs..." Jens Erdman Rasmussen, Fotografisk Center, 2017
